The Montana Newspaper Association is a professional organization representing 81 daily and weekly newspapers in Montana since 1885, focused on sustaining the local news industry, defending the First Amendment and promoting readership. With offices in Seeley Lake, Missoula and Salt Lake City, it serves as a central resource for advertising, legislative tracking, legal advocacy, and industry training.

The MNA also supports the Montana Newspaper Foundation, a nonprofit 501c3 organization that supports local journalism through scholarships, internships and training.

University of Montana School of Journalism is a nationally recognized journalism program and one of the oldest accredited journalism schools in the United States, founded in 1914. It offers hands-on, real-world training at both the undergraduate and graduate levels across multiple media platforms, including writing, reporting, broadcasting, photojournalism, audio/podcast storytelling and environmental journalism. Its students produce award-winning work and many alumni go on to successful careers in journalism and media.

Montana Transparency Project: MTP is a non-profit, nonpartisan initiative dedicated to helping individuals and organizations prepare and keep track of public-information requests, educating local governments and elected officials on Montana’s right-to-know, and holding institutions accountable for protecting this right. MTP believes that empowering Montanans to take an active role in government transparency will help create a more responsive and open government that will better serve the needs of our state.
